简介
出生与成长在严肃的新加坡，并在大学主修金融管理的林毅炜从来没想过他可能成为一名演员。直到他参加一个只有三十分钟长的舞台剧，并在新加坡的各个学校进行巡回演出。做为一名主修金融的大学生，当时他只是非常简单的想要找一份暑期工作而已。
从登上舞台的第一天开始，演出对林毅炜的生活来说就不再只是副业。此后他获得表演学位（伦敦），并开始为新加坡、香港、澳门和伦敦的剧院写剧本，表演及指导演出。林毅炜也在06年冬季结束了他在香港和澳门的演出的独角戏《鼠牛日记》。
除了舞台剧，林毅炜最近几年也在电视电影行业有所发展。由于这个原因，他在2004年开始定居在中国北京，在这里他成功的找到了美国投资和中国当地投资拍摄的电视、电影的演出角色。一有机会，林毅炜还喜欢在充满异国情调的地点，如西藏，澳门和柬埔寨高棉拍摄他自己的短片和电影。
林毅炜在2008年1月份在新加坡和澳门成立了自己的制作公司‘海岛人电影’。他认为在港澳台与新加的人有自己很独特的文化与背景，也希望通过‘海岛人’的电影和舞台剧里表达出这些地区华人的心声。
旅行是林毅炜的最爱之一,他曾去过三十个国家,在中国国内地也已到过16个城市。林毅炜的另一个爱好是中国功夫,曾长期在北京居住的原因之一也是为了在那里接中国武术的训练。
