Biography

Born and raised in Singapore, Thomas never had a clue he was going to be a director or actor until he started acting in short 30-min theatre shows touring around schools in Singapore. He was at that time, very simply, looking for a vacation job as an undergraduate majoring in finance.

Since that first day on stage, acting was never again 'part-time' in Thomas' life. He had since earned his Masters degree in acting (London) and wrote scripts, acted and directed for theatre in Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and London.

Other than theatre, Thomas also has a TV and film career going for him in recent years and for that reason, he'd based himself in Beijing for 4 years (beginning in 2004) where he'd successfully found acting jobs in both American and local Chinese productions. Most notably of his works was the TV series ‘The Game’, which Thomas played a principal role in. This TV series received nationwide broadcast in China on CCTV8 in 2008, and will also air nationwide in Singapore on Mediacorp's Channel-8 in July 2010.

Also in 2008, Thomas founded film company ‘Island Man Pictures’ (IMP) in his hometown Singapore, and Macau. He believes that the Chinese descendents in the islands of Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan have their very unique histories and cultures, and hopes to tell stories from these regions through his films.

In 2009, Thomas directed and produced the feature film 'Roulette City'. This is his first film of any length and it will be festival bound soon.

Thomas names traveling his one true love and has backpacked across 30 countries, including 16 provinces in China. Thomas' other passion is for Kung fu which interestingly, was the reason he started living in Beijing in 2004... to train in the Chinese art of fighting.
